It wasn’t a lucky home race for Joel Camathias, today’s 4 Ore di Monza. The Swiss driver, together with team mates Christian Ried and Matteo Cairoli at the wheel of the Porsche 911 RSR by Proton Competition, has finished 5th a race influenced by strategies and safety-car periods.
The result leaves some regrets, given the competitiveness shown by the package during practice and in the initial hour of the race, but the points gained will be very useful towards the rest of the European Le Mans Series season, whose next stop will be at the Red Bull Ring, in Austria, on 22-23 July.
Joel Camathias:
“We are clearly a lit bit disappointed not to clinch a better result than 5th, in front of so many friends and fans that came from Canton Ticino, mainly because the car and the driver line-up was probably worth something more, but that’s racing. Unfortunately, the safety-car period at the end of the first hour ruined our race strategy and we had to do a splash-and-dash in the final minutes. A pity, but we’ll try to do better next time. Still, for us from Canton Ticino, there is something to celebrate today at Monza, as my friend Stefano Comini won in the race of the TCR International Series. Well done!”
