Optimum Motorsport has shown great pace with Flick Haigh and Joe Osborne all season, running at the front at Monza before finishing a fine second, and setting blistering lap times at the Road to Le Mans last month.
With just nine points covering those competing in Austria, the team are fifth in the GT3 teams’ classification and expecting to make gains following a successful test with the Audi R8 LMS last week at Spa Francorchamps.
With 21 entries confirmed, the team are now all set for this weekend’s (21-22 July, 2017) third round of the Michelin Le Mans Cup at the Red Bull Ring in Austria.
Shaun Goff, team principal
“Confidence is again high for the Red Bull Ring. We showed great pace again at the Road to Le Mans and underlined that we have what it takes to win. The recent testing at Spa went well, offering reassurance that the fuel valve issue, which hampered us at Le Mans, has been resolved.”
Joe Osborne
“The test was all good! This weekend’s race at the Red Bull Ring needs to be the race to kick-start our championship title push properly. So, we’re all focused on making sure that happens as we aim for the win and the points haul on Saturday evening.”
