The No. 54 Composite Resources / Flex-Box ORECA 07 will start fifth in Sunday’s Monterey Grand Prix, the latest round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
Colin Braun’s pole streak came to an end at the 2.238-mile, 11-turn WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Braun briefly held the provisional pole position before eventually finishing fifth in the 15-minute qualifying session. He nearly recaptured the top spot before a slower car held him up in the final two turns. CORE was the highest-qualifying LMP2-style entry in the Prototype class.
Braun will share the car with co-driver Jon Bennett in Sunday’s two-hour and 40-minute race. The Monterey Grand Prix will be broadcast live on FS1 at 5pm ET.

“I felt like we could have been a few spots higher, but we have a great car. We got a good balance read on our car and have some good changes in mind that will put us in a good place tomorrow.
“The track conditions have been consistently low grip, which is find because it’s allowed us to work on it and tune for it. It’s nice because you know what you’re working with and I don’t anticipate anything changing for tomorrow.”
