Chinese squad Anstone Racing will join Blancpain GT Series Asia for the championship’s final two rounds of the season at Shanghai and Ningbo.
The Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing team recently took delivery of two new GT3 cars, which both make their race debuts at China’s Formula 1 venue this weekend (September 22/23). It brings the total number of Mercedes-AMG GT3s competing at Shanghai to five thanks to GruppeM and Indigo Racing’s full-season examples.
Both of Anstone’s entries feature previous Blancpain GT Series Asia experience thanks to Pro drivers Naoki Yokomizo and Max Wiser. Yokomizo won at Fuji in 2017 and will make his third appearance of the season for as many different teams at Shanghai after previously racing Kizashi Racing’s Lamborghini and CarGuy Racing’s Ferrari. Wiser, meanwhile, competed with Spirit of Race last season.
Yokomizo is again joined by former Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific Am champion Wei Xu who also contested Fuji’s round with CarGuy Racing having previously raced in China GT. Fellow countryman David Chen will share the team’s second Mercedes-AMG with his regular AsLMS co-driver Wiser.
While Shanghai will be Anstone’s first-ever motorsport event, its partners – Tianshi Racing Team – are regulars in China GT and the Asian Le Mans Series.
