Abbott & Bleekemolen join Barwell Motorsport for Barcelona

Barwell Motorsport will have slightly revised driver line-ups in each of its Blancpain GT Endurance Cup entries for this weekend’s Barcelona 3 hours, as it strives to secure the runner-up spot in the Pro-Am Championship.

After his unfortunate accident at the Spa 24 Hours in July, Adrian Amstutz is making a very good recovery from his injuries, but unfortunately will not be fit enough to take up his regular spot aboard the #77 Amstutz Produkte-backed Lamborghini Huracan, and so his place will be taken by experienced Touring Car and GT racer, Hunter Abbott. Hunter has raced the Huracan GT3 before and is also enjoying a very successful season in the Asian GT3 series this year. He will be joined by Adrian’s regular Blancpain team-mates, Martin Kodric and Patrick Kujala, who are also set to challenge very strongly for 2nd place in the Pro-Am Drivers’ standings. They are also seeking a hat-trick of Blancpain race victories for this season, after claiming Pro-Am wins at both Silverstone and Paul Ricard, along with Amstutz.

Meanwhile in the #78 VI Holding/Vimetco Extrusion liveried Huracan GT3, the car’s season-long campaigners, Leo Machitski and Richard Abra, will be joined by hugely successful former factory Lamborghini professional driver, Jeroen Bleekemolen. The Dutchman is replacing Miguel Ramos in the line-up, as the Portuguese driver has a long standing commitment to contest the clashing GT Open race at Monza this weekend. For Jeroen this will be his second appearance for Barwell Motorsport, and the second one at Barcelona too! His debut for the team came in the 24 Hours of Barcelona last year, where he secured pole position and finished second along with Abra, Mark Poole, and Joe Osborne.
