Andy Meyrick returns to the Belgium-based Motorsport98 team for a second season of the Michelin Le Mans Cup in 2018. Last year, Meyrick and team owner Eric De Doncker started the season as a new team with a new car but finished third in the LMP3 Championship with multiple podiums and ending the season with a win at Portimão.
“I am really excited to be back with Motorsport98 this year”, said Meyrick. “We finished 3rd in the championship and won our last race in 2017 so I feel very confident going into this season. I’m also very happy to be back with the Motorsport98 team as they are incredibly hard working and I know they will do everything in their power to have us on the podium at each race. It feels like it has been a long winter so I am looking forward to getting back behind the wheel.”
The team return with the Ligier JS P3 aiming to improve on last year’s impressive performance.
“After a late decision to take part in the Michelin Le Mans Cup last year, in 2018 we know what to expect so we can only improve in performance and quality,” said De Doncker. “It is really good to have Andy back with the team as he fits our team spirit and he’s a fast and good driver who I enjoy racing with. Motorsport98 is a family, always professional but with a relaxed and fun atmosphere and Andy is great addition as he helps the team with his knowledge of prototypes and me on adapting my driving style to prototype cars from NASCAR and GT cars that I was used to.”
Meyick and De Doncker are due to test at Spa at the end of March prior to the official test at Paul Ricard on April 11th.
