AVF is delighted to announce the agreement reached with Henrique Chaves for the 2018 European Le Mans Series season. After joining the team led Adrián Vallés in 2015, the 20-year-old Portuguese racer continued his single-seater career with the Catalan squad in Formula Renault 2.0 NEC and Eurocup before making a winning debut in the World Series Formula V8 3.5. This season, he will make the switch to Endurance racing by joining the European series. In fact, Henrique is the first driver to be announced by the team for their Dallara P217 and he already got the chance to sample the Italian machinery in testing at the end of last year.
Henrique Chaves
“I’m very excited about joining AVF for the upcoming ELMS season. It’s a big step in my racing career but I’m confident that, together with AVF, we can do a solid job. Driving in 4-hour races with slower traffic to tame is not what I’m used to, but I will take it step by step and learn as much as possible. Nevertheless, I hope to get up to speed quickly, reward the team with a good job throughout the season and promote the brands Blue, Speed, Alpla, Niledutch and IPS Ingredis”.
Adrian Valles
“Henrique joined us when he was a kid and grew up to become a man. I am very happy that he decided to follow us in our new adventure in prototypes. His attachment rewards the efforts and investments made to train him as a racer. I am sure that with the speed he shown in single-seaters, he will be among the best contenders in qualifying and I’m curious to see how he will behave in the race”.
