Burlen Ltd, the world’s only manufacturer of genuine SU (Skinners Union), AMAL and Zenith carburettors, is gearing up for another hugely exciting display at the Goodwood Members’ Meeting this month.
From 17-18 March 2018, the Salisbury-based company will be showcasing its latest products and services, including everything there is to know about SU Carburetters and spares.
Amongst Burlen’s Goodwood arsenal will be its revolutionary SUi fuel injection system, which sees a fuel injection device work inside a carb. It’s one of historic motoring’s most eagerly anticipated products of all time, and Burlen’s knowledgeable staff will be on hand to talk interested parties through the development.
Also on the stand will be some fine examples of their SU Carburetter restoration service, bound to attract plenty of attention from the classic car enthusiasts in attendance. Plus, Burlen’s coveted SU Clothing Company tweed caps will go up for grabs at the Members’ Meeting for the first time.
SU Clothing Company made its debut at the Goodwood Revival back in September to something of a fanfare, and the Dorset-made items in Bond and Gatsby styles will likely be a big hit once again.
Burlen Manager Director Mark Burnett will also be in action on the track in the Gerry Marshall Trophy and Sprint races for Group 1 Touring cars.
Behind the wheel of the Swiftune-prepared, ex-Jon Mowatt Mini 1275GT, Burnett will be looking for glory alongside co-driver Richard Meaden.
Meaden is an experienced racer with an excellent record on the famous Goodwood circuit – he even scooped the Whitemore Cup at the 2016 meeting and will be looking for even more success this time around.
Mark Burnett said: “‘We’re delighted to be back at Goodwood for the 76th Members’ Meeting to showcase everything from the world of SU. This year we’ll not only be exhibiting the extensive range of SU Carburetters and spares but also our rather fetching new selection of head-worn tweed in the form of vintage-styled caps. The Members’ Meeting represents the start of the motorsport season in the UK and there’s no better place to get the ball rolling for SU in 2018 too.
“To top off my weekend, I’m thrilled to have been invited to compete in the Gerry Marshall Trophy and Sprint races at the wheel of my Swiftune-prepared, ex-Jon Mowatt Mini 1275GT. The Gerry Marshall races are widely regarded as the showstopper at the Members’ Meeting particularly because they attract a varied field of professional and celebrity co-drivers, and I’m looking forward to giving my all with Richard Meaden.”
