CJ Wilson Racing completes driver line up for Sebring with Kuno Wittmer

Today CJ Wilson Racing completed its driver line up for Next week’s MOBIL 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Presented by Advance Autoparts. Canadian veteran Kuno Wittmer will join team regulars, Marc Miller and Till Bechtolsheimer in the #36 Unit Nutrition/CJ Wilson Automotive Group Acura NSX GT3.

The 35 year old from Montreal is delighted to join the Austin based team as it makes its debut in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at the historic Central Florida track. “I’m truly excited about this opportunity not only to be back in a GT Car but also to be surrounded by such  a good team. The NSX was car was going through the its development stages in 2017 but clearly showed it’s potential and that has been reflected in the start that the HPD teams have had this year.”

Wittmer knows what it takes to compete at the highest level of North American SportsCar Racing and he is confident that CJ Wilson Racing will offer him a platform to do so. “You need firepower and a proper team to make this thing run and I believe CJ Wilson Racing provides exactly that. The team has shown strongly in the IMSA development series and, for me, that was check mark that needed to be ticked.”

In a short time, the Montreal native has clearly gelled with his new team, something he believes will be a significant factor come race day. “Coming from a factory program last year and finishing the season on a high note with a victory at Petit Le Mans in GTLM, I really did want to get back into the GT ranks with a proper team and competitive team mates. Marc and Till are a really strong combination, they have already shown great pace in the car and they are fun to be around and I think we can really create some good chemistry and just from that aspect alone I think we can develop something really good here.”

Marc Miller also recognizes the importance of working with a familiar face at one of the sport’s most testing events. “A solid driver line-up is very important to have for any of the GTD class races, especially a physical event like the 12 hours of Sebring. I have known Kuno personally for several years. He is talented, prepared, and quite a good guy. You want good relationships with teammates and Kuno fits in very well and will be an asset to our race week. I am looking forward to him joining us!”

For Team Manager, Andris Laivins, the choice of Wittmer was a relatively simple one. “We asked Kuno to fill out our driver lineup for Sebring because we needed another steady hand with tons of GT experience who would mesh well with Till and Marc.  I’ve known Kuno since the mid-2000’s racing touring cars. He was in an Acura then, and it’ll be fun to get him back in one and go have some fun in Florida.”
