Following a successful weekend at VIRginia International Raceway earlier this month, CRP Racing will seek to continue their winning streak this week at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park for Rounds 3 & 4 of the Pirelli World Challenge SprintX Championship.
With minimal test time with the new car, the 2017 got off to a slow start for the North Carolina team. Persistence paid off with every event, the team found more speed, placing higher up the charts as the season went on. During the opening rounds of the SprintX Championship at VIRginia International Raceway, CRP’s home track, the team showed its strongest performance of the year. The No. 2 CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 started on the front row of both races, and earned the race two win, leading flag to flag with full season driver Ryan Dalziel and SprintX addition Daniel Morad.
“Coming off of such a strong weekend for CRP Racing, we are all full of confidence going to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park,” said Dalziel. “There has been a small BOP weight addition to the Mercedes AMG GT3 since VIR so we will have to see how that affects us, but I think the track will be really good for our car. We are going to be pushing hard for that double victory that we missed at VIR. Both Daniel and I have raced recently so I know we will be alert and ready to push from lap one of practice.”
With the victory under their belts, Dalziel and Morad sit second in the SprintX GT Driver Championship, four points away from the Pro/Pro class leaders. Canadian Tire Motorsport Park is also the home track of SprintX driver Daniel Morad, who currently lives in Toronto.
“We got off to a near perfect start in the SprintX Championship, winning race two at VIR,” said Morad. “Any time I get the opportunity to race near home, it makes me really happy. Having all of my friends and family out will be huge, and I’m confident that our Mercedes AMG GT3 will be perfectly suited to the fast and flowing 10 turns we’re going to face this weekend.”
