ELMS, Le Mans Cup and LMP3 Cup team Ecurie Ecosse / Nielsen Racing is set to expand its prototype programme over the winter to include the Asian Le Mans Series.

The Scottish outfit, which this year has scored race wins in the Michelin Le Mans Cup and British LMP3 Cup and multiple podiums in the European Le Mans Series, has entered a pair of Ligier JS P3 prototypes into the winter-based pan-Asian championship.

The team is fresh off a 1-2 finish in the Le Mans Cup round at Spa-Francorchamps, and is delighted to announce another big programme within the ACO-family of racing, to bridge the gap between the end of the current European season and the start of the next one.

This year’s Asian Le Mans Series season features four rounds between November 2018 and February 2019, all with four-hour races at key circuits in the Asian market.

The schedule includes trips to the Sepang International Circuit (Malaysia), Chang International Circuit (Thailand), Shanghai International Circuit (China) and Fuji Speedway (Japan).

Ecurie Ecosse / Nielsen Racing’s pair of driver line-ups for the upcoming Asian Le Mans Series campaign will be announced in due course.

Shanghai, China plays host to the opening round of the season, the meeting running from 25-28th of November.

Sven Thompson, Ecurie Ecosse / Nielsen Racing Team Manager: “We’re incredibly excited to announce our first Asian Le Mans Series campaign as a team. This year’s LMP3 field looks like it’s going to be extremely competitive, and very attractive.

“We look forward to the opportunity that this gives us, not only a chance to fight for an Automatic Le Mans Invite (obtained by winning the class title), but continue to expand and build up the reputation of Ecurie Ecosse / Nielsen Racing racing in ACO-sanctioned series outside of Europe.

“Both our driver line-ups are shaping up nicely, so we hope to be competitive right away.”
