Ecurie Ecosse set sights on Le Mans with triple LMP3 campaign

Following a standout season in 2017 that saw Ecurie Ecosse shine in the Michelin Le Mans Cup and claim title honours in the Henderson Insurance Brokers LMP3 Cup in the UK, the Nielsen-run squad return to both series and expand further its programme in 2018 as they step up to compete in the European Le Mans Series with their sights firmly set on securing a Le Mans entry for 2019.

Rising Scottish star Colin Noble continues his impressive progress through the motorsport ranks and in a busy campaign for the 21-year-old, he will compete in all three championships with the team.

In the ELMS, Noble – who secured no less than seven race wins last year – will be joined by Danish racer Christian Olsen and British driver Alex Kapadia, the latter very familiar with the team having competed with them last year.

It’s a return of the all Scottish line-up in the Michelin Le Mans Cup this year with team owner and driver Alasdair McCaig teaming up with Noble once again, while driver announcements for the LMP3 Cup will follow shortly.

Christian Olsen
“I am very excited for my debut season in endurance racing alongside Alex and Colin at Ecurie Ecosse Nielsen Racing. I am undergoing rigorous training and preparation ahead of the season and I’m confident, with the backing of Composite World, to show up with a strong package and perform from the outset.”

Alex Kapadia
“I am really excited to be part of this line up. I have been working with Christian for a short time now and he is showing great promise and Colin’s pace is obviously well known. Having driven for Ecurie Ecosse Nielsen Racing in Radicals and occasionally last year I know them to be a top team and it is also nice to work with Lee Penn again having worked with him in the past. I think we are going to be a very strong squad.”

Colin Noble
“I am delighted to be racing for Ecurie Ecosse Nielsen Racing again this year following a very successful 2017. I’m looking forward to partnering Christian and Alex in ELMS and continuing my partnership with Alasdair moving into the Le Mans Cup this season. Really excited and can’t wait to get the season underway!”

Alasdair McCaig
“The team has really got some momentum behind it right now and it is fantastic to be participating in three championships across Europe. We have three sets of top driver line-ups for the up and coming season and we will be looking to carry our success forward from last season.”
