Following a season with many highs and lows, the Emil Frey Jaguar Racing Team had a conciliatory end to the 2017 season, finishing with both cars in the point rankings at the season final at Barcelona. The private race team from Switzerland is planning to participate at selected races of the Blancpain GT Series. Team Principal Lorenz Frey was joined by numerous invited guests and media representatives at the official opening of the new workshop at the headquarter in Safenwil this evening, announcing exclusive information about the upcoming year.
Since the entry in the highly renowned Blancpain GT Series in 2014, the team scored many notable successes. The team secured fifth place in the PRO-AM team championship, in which 18 teams in total took part. In addition, the Jaguar team stormed to take third place in PRO-AM on home turf at Silverstone (England) in 2015. At the traditional 24 hours of Spa-Francorchamps, Emil Frey Jaguar Racing came home in eighth place in 2015 only to top the result with a double finish of both GT3 Jaguar the year later.
The “blue cat” is now planning to compete in this year´s Endurance Cup races at Monza (Italy), Silverstone (England) and Paul Ricard (France) as well as in the Sprint Cup race weekend at the Italian track at Misano. Amongst the Swiss Alex Fontana, who celebrated his debut with Emil Frey Jaguar Racing at the season final at Barcelona last year, there are two new faces taking place behind the wheel of the GT3 Jaguar: the Canadian Mikael Grenier and the South-African-born Adrian Zaugg, who races with a Swiss license.
“Today was a special day as we had the great pleasure of presenting our new workshop to many invited guests and informed about the upcoming season”, said Lorenz Frey, Team Principal Emil Frey Jaguar Racing. “It is always nice to see familiar faces ahead of the official start of the season. The Jaguar project is a matter truly dear to our hearts and we have put in a lot of work and pleasure over the last years. Therefore, we won´t miss out on the opportunity to compete in selected races this year. We are very excited ahead of the first race.”
