Emil Frey Jaguar Racing return to race on home soil at Silverstone

The Emil Frey Jaguar Team had their hands full following a turbulent start to the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup three weeks ago in Monza (Italy): With the #114 GT3 Jaguar suffering severe damage after being caught-up in the starting accident and the sister car #14 not seeing the chequered flag due to a technical incident, both „cats“ are now ready to race again on home soil at Silverstone.

Monza did not bring the desired turnaround with bringing home the laurels after running in the points position, however, both GT3 Jaguar impressed the competition with strong lap-times and a consistent fast pace. Especially during the long-runs, the two blue racing machines underlined their strong performance.

This coming weekend, the Emil Frey Jaguar Racing Team is looking ahead to race on home soil at the “Home of British Motorsport” at Silverstone (Great Britain). The Swiss team is hoping for a good result for the second round of the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup in front of their home crowds.

“It does motivate us that little bit extra to race in Silverstone, especially since we proved with 5th place in qualifying last year that we can compete at the front”, says Lorenz Frey, Team Principal Emil Frey Jaguar Racing. “We did not score any points in Monza, but we were very pleased with the overall performance and speed of both the GT3 Jaguar. All competing cars have come very close together and it has become a very fine line between success and failure, but we know of our potential and will completely exploit it.”

Qualifying will go underway on Sunday, 14 May 2017 from 09:45 CET, with the three-hour race following from 14:55 CET. For more information, please visit www.emilfreyracing.com. For regular updates and background stories, please visit our Facebook page.

Driver Quotes Emil Frey GT3 Jaguar #14

Stéphane Ortelli (MCO)
“We were exactly where we wanted to be with our performance in Monza. We are a small, private team and can fight with the big teams, like Bentley. This was great in Monza and a good sign for the future. I am very proud of what we have already achieved this year and I hope, that we can have a good result based on that performance.”

Lorenz Frey (CH)
“Unfortunately, we could not end our string of bad luck in Monza despite having the potential, but that´s racing. Silverstone is a good track for the GT3 Jaguar and we could show that with good results in the past and our very first podium two years ago.”

Albert Costa Balboa (ESP)
“Last year, we were not as far with the GT3 Jaguar as we are now, but we were already competitive in qualifying. We had some bad luck with the brakes during the race, but afterwards our analysis showed that we were one of the top-5 cars on track. Personally, I feel stronger than ever with racing in two championships and I can develop myself as a driver. We are fully motivated.”

Driver Quotes Emil Frey GT3 Jaguar #114

Marco Seefried (GER)
“We were in the wrong place at the wrong time in Monza, were involved in the starting accident without any fault and therefore not able to show our real potential. We are all hoping that it will be better in Silverstone. The track should be more beneficial for us compared to Monza. All in all, I am optimistic for the next race.”

Jonathan Hirschi (CH)
“We had a lot of bad luck in Monza, but you can still say that we have had an immense improvement comparing to last year. Everyone in the team just wants to have a good result. The characteristic of the track in Silverstone should be much better suited for our GT3 Jaguar than the high-speed track in Monza. We are all excited to race again.”

Christian Klien (A)
“We could see in Monza, that the competition is extremely tight this year. You could also see at the first race especially, that the big teams present themselves even more professionally with some good and top drivers. For us, the hard work over the winter definitely paid off and we could be happy with the performance of the car. Therefore, I think we will be strong in Silverstone as the GT3 Jaguar should work well on that track. We showed that in qualifying last year and this year we have to make it up in the race.”
