Following an impressive one-two result last time out, FFF Racing Team by ACM head to the Blancpain GT Series Asia season finale at Ningbo International Speedpark leading both the GT3 overall standings as well as the Pro-Am championship. The aim this coming weekend (13-14 October) is to capitalise on the strong form shown all-season and to wrap up both drivers’ and teams’ championships.
Martin Kodric and Dennis Lind lead the way at the head of the championship table with 135 points after an impressive season where the duo have already secured two wins and three further podium positions. The fight for title honours is far from over however with just a 12-point advantage heading into the final two rounds of the season.
“Obviously leading into the final round gives us a great deal of confidence,” Lind explained. “We need to keep pushing it though as it is by no means over yet. In saying that I have full faith in FFF Racing to bring a championship winning car!”
Kodric echoed the sentiments of his teammate, who is very much eyeing the title. “After a successful last race weekend in China we are feeling confident going into the last round in Ningbo,” he said. “With championship on the line – and 12 points in the lead – we know that it will be a tight fight until the end, but I believe that we can be the ones on the top step.”
Hiroshi Hamaguchi and Marco Mapelli head the Pro-Am standings with 156 points courtesy of their podium and win in Shanghai. With three class wins and four further podiums over the season, the pairing will also be going all-out to take the title.
Meanwhile, in team’s championship, FFF Racing are second in the standings with 226 points, just seven points shy of the leaders. While the team are confident heading into the weekend, they are very aware that nothing is predictable in motorsport.
“Having a small points margin on the two main contenders is helpful, but there are many points on offer over the weekend,” stated Team Principal Andrea Caldarelli. “We don’t go there thinking it’s all wrapped up yet. We’ll go there as we have each race this year and try to maximise everything we have in the car, the drivers and the package.
“We’ve put a huge amount of effort into the programme and have enjoyed extended collaboration with Lamborghini Squadra Corse who have been instrumental in helping us reach our goals,” Caldarelli continued. “We’ve been competitive all season and have enjoyed the lead in the standings for much of the year so it’s our aim to bring home the title.
“It’s a strange position to be there – 12 points in the lead – and still not feeling that comfortable because you know how motorsport is. You can only take the trophy when you cross the finish line. It’s never done until it’s done. That’s how we approach the racing and we’re going to fight to the very last second of the championship. Let’s do the magic.”
