Fraser Ross has received a boost to his chances of victory in the 2018 CAMS Australian GT Championship courtesy of Boost Mobile.
A customer focused telecoms provider, Boost Mobile has built a reputation by teaming up with Australia’s hottest artists, athletes, parties and events.
The collaboration sees Ross join Boost Mobile’s ambassador program.
Boost Mobile branding will feature on the team’s car throughout 2018, alongside world renowned brands Total, Opti-Coat, Leica Cameras, and Logitech, all of whom have continued from Ross’ successful 2017 season.
Alongside its support of Ross and YNA Autosport, Boost Mobile also enjoys naming rights sponsorship of the Walkinshaw Andretti United team in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship, which has links to McLaren via the team’s partner Zak Brown, who is CEO of the famed manufacturer.
Ross, who won at Sandown in 2017, remains with YNA Autosport at the wheel of a McLaren 650S GT3 for the 2018 season, which will be prepared by McElrea Racing.
It provides a stable and proven platform on which Ross can build his 2018 championship challenge, after a strong start to 2018 with a fifth place finish at the Bathurst 12 Hour in a world-class field.
“It’s fantastic to have Boost Mobile onboard for this season, and I’m excited to become an ambassador for the company,” said Ross.
“With their support, and the help of Total, Opti-Coat, Logitech, and Leica Cameras it should be another good year in the McLaren.
“We’ve got a new McLaren 650S GT3 with the same team and crew from last year, so we all know how to work with each other and extract every little bit of performance.
“Towards the end of last year we were really on top of things, and I think that showed in the results we were getting, so I’m excited to be working with YNA Autosport and McElrea Racing again.
“It’s going to be a big year for us, and I can’t wait to get started at the Grand Prix!”
Based out of Queensland, McElrea Racing will once again provide technical support to YNA Autosport.
McElrea Racing has a long history of preparing race winning cars and developing world class drivers, making it a perfect match for the championship winning ambitions of Ross and the team.
The 2018 Australian GT Championship begins on the streets of Albert Park in Melbourne, where it supports the Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix on March 22-25.
It’s the first of a series of high-profile events for the category, which will also take it to the brand-new The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia.
The world class facility hosts the series in April for the first of three endurance events at what will be the world-class venue’s first motorsport event.
Stops at the famous Phillip Island and Sydney Motorsport Park follow, before the traditional journey across the Tasman for the season-ending Hampton Downs 101 in October.
The six round Australian GT Championship makes up only part of Ross’ schedule for 2018, with a further announcement to be made in due course about an international programme.
