GDL Racing returns to Carrera Cup Italia with Bashar Mardini

GDL Racing is set to return to the Carrera Cup Italia. The team led by Gianluca De Lorenzi renews its challenge in the Porsche’s one-make series after claiming in 2007 the first victory in the Italian championship history with De Lorenzi in the opening event at Adria, eventually finishing second in the overall standings that season.

Taking part for the last time in the Carrera Cup Italia in 2011, GDL Racing re-joins the series lining up a Stoccarda’s car in the Michelin Cup class.

To drive it will be Bashar Mardini, the 36-year-old driver from Emirates who already has a good experience in the endurance competitions with GDL Racing, including a couple of 24H Dubais.

Mardini will make his debut in the Carrera Cup Italia that goes to Imola (29 April), Le Castellet (13 May), Monza (3 June), Misano (17 June), Mugello (15 July), Vallelunga (9 September) and Imola again on the 7th of October, during the Porsche Festival.
