Generation AMR target GTX win

Running under the ‘Generation AMR SuperRacing’ banner, the Aston Martin specialists at David Appleby Engineering will once again head to Yas Marina Circuit to compete in the annual Gulf 12 Hours race taking place on 15th and 16th December.

The Oxfordshire based crew will run their Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT4, which is renowned for its suitability for endurance races, with a slightly altered driver line-up to their 2016 entry. SuperDry co-founder and designer James Holder, will be partnered by his regular Pro driver and driver coach, Matthew George. This year the pairing are joined by seasoned Am driver, Steve Tandy. Tandy is no stranger to the David Appleby outfit, as 2014 saw him compete in the British GT Championship alongside James Appleby in a Bentley Continental GT3.

After narrowly missing out on a podium position at last year’s Gulf 12 Hours, the team now only have their eyes on the top spot. Team Principal James Appleby is confident ahead of the event, “we were the quickest in our class last year by quite some way!” Appleby said, “it’s a great event to end the year with. Matt has been doing a lot of prep work on the sim with James and as we know, the Aston just goes and goes, which is perfect for these endurance events”. This year the GTX class will also include Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo and Porsche Carrera Cup cars. Appleby commented, “I am confident that the organisers at Gulf 12 Hours will have made the cross-class balance fair enough so we get the chance to fight for the overall class win!”
