GT Sport and Michelin renew and expand their cooperation for three more years

During the Winter Tests at Barcelona, GT Sport and Michelin have formally extended their cooperation, which started in 2015, for three more years (2018-20). The agreement was signed by Jesús Pareja, CEO of GT Sport, and Pascal Couasnon, Director of Michelin Motorsport, in presence also of Greig Coull, Director of the Customer Racing programme for the French manufacturer.

The partnership becomes even closer, as it will now include the aspects of communications, marketing activation and spectator entertainment. An innovative concept of public relations in the paddock will be introduced and presented in the forthcoming weeks. This new concept will foster networking between all players present at the tracks (participants, organizers, companies) and position the paddock of the GT Open and the Euroformula at the high end of European series.

With that, the International GT Open and the Euroformula Open will consolidate their leading position in their respective sector: GT3 pro-am racing and single-seater formulae. For Michelin, a leader in the area of tire technology, the two series promoted by GT Sport represent a perfect testing ground to develop its products and a valuable platform to assert its commitment with racing.

In 2018, along the new Pilot Sport GT M tire range, Michelin will introduce the RFID system that allows checking tires electronically.

Jesús Pareja, CEO of GT Sport, stated:“We are delighted with the results obtained in these first three years of cooperation with Michelin, both from a sporting and technical perspective, but most of all, we are very happy about the new three-year stint of this cooperation that is ahead of us. We will now cooperate more closely in the areas of communication, marketing and public relations. The projects that are being prepared are going to transform our paddock and bring it to a much higher level in terms of entertainment and networking opportunities. I am convinced that the 2018 season will mark another step forward for the GT Open and the Euroformula, and the partnership with Michelin is a key factor in this growth.”

Pascal Couasnon, Director of Michelin Motorsport, commented: “The extension of the cooperation with the International GT Open and the Euroformula is another example of the importance that professional and amateur drivers alike have for our company. Michelin Motorsport is present at all levels of motorsports, and this allows participants to GT Sport Series to benefit from the experience and the technology that we have developed in the top racing series around the world. We work closely with teams, supplying tires which are safe, competitive and durable. Michelin tires developed for our customer racing programmes are efficient and at the same time, provide driving pleasure and offer reasonable purchase costs.”
