HubAuto Racing will make its GT3 class debut in Blancpain GT Series Asia at Shanghai International Circuit next weekend (September 23/24) after adding a pair of Porsches to the entry list.
The squad has run Ringo Chong’s Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR entry since the start of the season but will now graduate to the senior class with two of the German marque’s 991 GT3R models.
HubAuto’s China GT championship leaders, Jin Long Bao and Martin Ragginger, are both making their first Blancpain GT Series Asia appearances just a fortnight after claiming two podiums together at the same Shanghai venue. The latter is something of a Porsche specialist and currently lies second in Asia’s Carrera Cup standings thanks, in part, to victory in Shanghai’s season opener.
Meanwhile, the team’s sister car features Japanese F3 and FRD LMP3 racer Leo Ye who partners former Porsche Carrera Cup GB champion Tim Bridgman. The 31-year-old is also no stranger to Porsche GT3 machinery having previously won a race with it in the British GT Championship.
Another bumper entry is expected in China next weekend when the championship stages the first of this year’s final two events. An average of 30 GT3 and GT4 supercars have contested the inaugural pan-continental campaign and that trend is expected to continue in Shanghai where eight manufacturers are already confirmed. The full entry list will be revealed early next week.
