The Inter Europol Competition team is at the circuit of Estoril for the last race of the VdeV championship and will fight for the title. The #22 car is second in the championship with only 1,5 points behind the leader. In the championship, there is only 33,5 points between the numbers one and five, double points can we earned, so who wins is still a question mark. The #33 is fifth in the championship.
This last race of the season is a six-hour race. The #22 car with regular drivers Kuba Smiechowski and Pontus Fredricsson is joined by Martin Hippe. Hippe and Smiechowski were crowned Vice Champions in the European Le Mans Series after winning last weekend’s race in Portimao. Paul Scheuschner in the #33 is once again joined by Moritz Müller-Crepon and also by French gentleman driver Xavier Michel. Michel was with the team this year in Le Castellet and three races last year in the VdeV.
In the Formula Renault 2.0 young Swede Edward Jonasson is third in the championship. He says about this weekend: “Obviously my goal is to get as many points as possible in the last two races of the season. The gap to the numbers one and two is big, but this weekend we get double points. It is not going to be easy, but that will not stop me from trying.”
Kuba Smiechowski (#22): “After the result of last week, we are still pretty pumped and are trying to keep this momentum for this race. We are only 1,5 points behind the leaders and will push to finish ahead of them. We are obviously going for the highest place on the podium as we like to win the championship for the third year in a row.”
Paul Scheuschner (#33): “Once again having Moritz (Müller-Crepon) and Xavier (Michel) as team mates should give us a good chance to climb back to the top. It’s going to be close, but very exciting.”
