The Spaniard of Kurdish heritage will make his debut in the series at Nürburgring next weekend, where the penultimate round takes place. Tutumlu will drive a factory-backed Lamborghini Huracán GT3 teaming up with Dutch driver Max van Splunteren.
Isaac Tutumlu will return to top-flight motorsport next weekend as the driver from Barcelona will join the ultra-competitive field of the Blancpain GT Series at Nürburgring. Tutumlu’s first appearance in the series will mark an important milestone as the SRO-organized championship draws more than forty GT3 cars every race weekend. The Spaniard of Kurdish roots will drive a factory Scuadra Corse-backed Lamborghini Huracán GT3. Netherlands’ Max van Splunteren, who is contesting the full season in the Blancpain GT Series, will join Tutumlu at the wheel.
“I’m pleased to make my debut in the Blancpain GT Series, which is the most competitive GT3 championship all around the world. Besides, it’s great to drive a factory-backed car. My goal is to help Max and my team as much as possible to be speedy enough and give the best shot we can. I think we are a strong driver pairing and it’s possible to make an impression” explains Tutumlu. He also underlines “despite my last starts with a GT3 car was with Audis, this Huracán is pretty much the same. For instance, the engine is exactly the same. In addition, my previous experience in the Super Trofeo Lamborghini will be a valuable starting point. Nürburgring is neither something unfamiliar to me, because I raced there during my days in the Porsche Supercup and the International GT Open. Changeable weather always play a key role on the Eifel region and it weekend doesn’t like different this time. I consider this race is a kind of preparation for 2018. We have various proposals on the table for a successful campaign next year and the Blancpain GT Series is one of them.”
Both races will take place on Saturday (14.00 – CET – Qualifying Race) and on Sunday (15.30 – CET – Main Race), they both lasting one hour.
