Spaniard is back defending the Kurdistan Racing Team colors to contest the German series in a Car Collection Motorsport-run Audi R8 LMS. Tutumlu will share the car with Dirg Parhofer throughout the 2019 season.
Isaac Tutumlu will kick off his 2019 season next weekend with a new challenge ahead as the Spaniard will make his debut in the German-based DMV GTC championship under the Kurdistan Racing Team banner. Tutumlu is making his comeback racing under the Kurdish flag, which he already successfully defended back in the 2013 and 2014. Tutumlu achieved strong results by then contesting the International GT Open with Porsche and Chevrolet machinery and stepping onto the podium many times. Tutumlu will now share the Audi R8 LMS with Dirg Parhofer and pay visit to circuits such as Hockenheim – three times–, Red Bull Ring, Nürburgring, Oschersleben and Zolder.
“After more than four years of racing our last race with Barzani, we are pleased to announce that our team is back into motorsport and under the banner we always wanted to use: Kurdistan Racing Team. This new opportunity has arisen as a result of a Germany-based company founded by a gentleman driver, which has interest in Kurdistan due to country’s growth. They were tough negotiations but we are glad an agreement has come to fruition”explains Tutumlu. The experienced GT driver also adds: “It is a pleasure to contest the DMV GTC, an expanding championship, with the team because its entry list includes names such as Markus Winkelhock, Uwe Alzen or Dennis Marschall despite a Pro-Am spirit. I have plenty of experience with Audi GT3 LMS cars and Car Collection is an extremely professional team, so I feel confident. Besides, Dirg is also a fast gentleman drive and our potential is quite good. Last but not least, this is only a first step as we also have plans to enter several international races such as the 24 hours of Barcelona or the Yas Marina’s Gulf 12 hours.”
