Last year Formula Racing Development had announced the newly established Prototype series – FRD LMP3 Series will be hosting the debut race in May at Shanghai International Circuit. Before the race start, Jimmy Lin from Taiwan had announced to lead “PTRS LMP3 Team” to race in the China first ever Prototype Series.
Jimmy took down his first champion in Zhuhai International Circuit back in 2000 while he was only 26. This made his startup in formula racing and obtained two consecutive championship in Renault Spider. He then officially joined China Formula Renault Championship after trained by FRD to become the first International driver from Taiwan. In 2011, PTRS joined the Continental Le Mans Series and became the first Asian team to join the prototype series. Jimmy hopes to seek for potential young Chinese drivers within this brand new event.
FRD Motorsports founder Kenneth Ma expressed that, “There is only three months until the first race begin. Many teams were interested in joining this series since the date of press conference. Jimmy’s joining will be a flashing point for this race not just because he is a experienced driver but also the past results from PTRS and Jimmy were astonishing. I hope that FRD LMP3 Series will soon be the most popular race event in China.”
