2017 Italian Formula 4 Championship runner-up Job van Uitert is set to switch to sportscar racing next season as he joins British team RLR M-sport for an assault on the LMP3 class of both the European Le Mans Series and the Michelin Cup which runs as a support series to the ELMS and the 24 hours of Le Mans. The 19-year-old Dutchman will partner Canadian John Farano and British prototype veteran Rob Garofall in the 2018 ELMS season and joins Farano in the Michelin Le Mans Cup on board of RLR M-sport with Mike Smith Motorsport’s familiar Ligier JSP3 LMP3.

Job joins the Darwen, Lancashire based team coming off of a highly successful year in the Italian F4 Championship, winning four races on the way to second for Jenzer Motorsport. RLR M-sport with Mike Smith Motorsport is one of the longest-serving teams in European sportscar racing, dating back to the team’s debut in the 2010 European Le Mans with a Lola LMP2. Since then it has successfully campaigned in both the LMP2 and LMP3 class and has combined programs in both the European Le Mans Series and the Michelin Le Mans Cup since 2017. In 2018 it will again be campaigning its Ligier JSP3 machines as the team prepares for a move back into the LMP2 class in 2019.

Job van Uitert: “I am immensely excited to join RLR M-sport for the upcoming season and I cannot think of a better team to tackle my first season in sportscars with. I’ve enjoyed several successful years in Formula 4 but achieving success at the 24 hours of Le Mans is my ultimate goal in racing and I feel that I have just taken my first step towards that goal. The European Le Mans series has gone from strength to strength over the last few years, the Michelin Le Mans Cup gives me the chance to develop myself much faster and racing at Le Mans in the Road to Le Mans support races is a dream come true!”

Nick Reynolds: “We tested Job right after concluding the 2017 season and he made an enormous impression on us and in signing him for both programs it means that a lot of pieces of the puzzle have fallen into place so that we can challenge for the title in both the European Le Mans Series and the Michelin Cup. Job possesses great speed, John Farano showed in 2017 that he has the potential to be one of the best bronze-drivers out there and Rob Garofall’s speed and experience are without doubt. It all means that we cannot wait for the season to start. “
