After a sabbatical year, the Swiss driver will contest both the Sprint and Endurance series of the 2019 Italian GT Championship, with a Porsche Cayman GT4 ofAutorlando Sport
The break that Joel Camathias allowed himself in 2018 (when he only raced the Barcelona 24 Hours) is over and the Swiss driver is ready to resume a racing career spanning over 25 years. Today he announced a double programme for his return to GT racing: he will take part to both the Sprint and Endurance series of the high-level Italian GT Championship, driving a Porsche Cayman 718 GT4 prepared by Autorlando Sport and shared with Giuseppe Ghezzi.
The programme includes a total of seven rounds and kicks-off immediately, this weekend at Vallelunga, in the Sprint series, which is based on two 50-minute races per event. The Endurance series includes races of 3 hours of duration.
The Sprint series will stop at Valleunga (5 May), Imola (23 June), Mugello (21 July) and Monza (20 October).
The Endurance series includes rounds at Misano (19 May), Vallelunga (15 September) and Mugello (6 October).

“I am very happy to come back to racing, with a full programme, after a sabbatical year that has allowed me to recharge batteries, train physically and mentally but also to understand that I still want to compete and that racing is what I like the most. Luckily, I will be starting as from next weekend, and I feel anxious to do so. The Italian GT Championship, which I already raced in 2015, is one of the top GT series in Europe, and I find very interesting the format introduced this year, with separate Sprint and Endurance races. Autorlando, of course, is a team with which I have been often linked in the past, I feel like going back home. With them I won the LMS GT2 title back in 2006 and the overall crown in the 2007 GT Open. Hopefully, we can add another chapter to this nice story. I have also already raced in 2015 with my team mate, Giuseppe Ghezzi. He is an excellent gentleman driver that has claimed great successes, like the Am title in the GT4 European series two years ago. All the ingredients to do well are there and I am extremely motivated.”
