After a short summer break, the European Le Mans Series is back on stage, and for the fourth round of the season, it is heading towards the Circuit Paul Ricard, the well-known track in Southern France. Holidays may be over, hot weather not, and high temperatures are expected in Le Castellet and surroundings this weekend.
They will be and additional rival for Joel Camathias, who, together with team mates Christian Ried and Matteo Cairoli, aims at obtaining a good result at the wheel of the Proton Competition Porsche 911 RSR, and at improving the current 4th position in the LMGTE standings.
The Swiss driver is highly motivated but also aware of the challenge, in a series more competitive than ever this season. The French 4 Hours will kick-off at noon on Sunday.
Joel Camathias:
“The short holidays have been useful to reload the batteries and improve physical fitness. This won’t be a superfluous aspect this weekend, as we will have to face severe heat, in one of the warmest summers ever in France. The Paul Ricard is one of the historic tracks, characterized by its log straights. It is not the track where I have raced most, but I am happy to go there and really aim at doing well. It’s going to be a challenging weekend, not only because of the heat, which will oblige us to caliber well the efforts and the pace and to preserve the tires and the car, but also because of the extremely fierce competition that we are seeing this season. I hope that the situation will be a little bit more levelled than in previous races, and we will certainly aim at a great result, hopefully our second podium of the year.”
