Joel Camathias to continue with Proton Competition and in the ELMS

Joel Camathias asserts himself in the élite of GT racing, as he confirms his plans for the 2018 season: like in 2017, the Swiss driver will contest the European Le Mans Series (ELMS), the top Endurance series in the continent, competing with German squad Proton Competition. This will be the third consecutive year of cooperation between Proton and Joel, a partnership that yielded 3rd position and one win in ELMS’ LMGTE category last year, and five class podium finishes in the FIA-WEC in 2016.

Once again, Joel will be associated to Germany’s Christian Reid, with whom he has shared previous successes at Proton, and with young Norwegian Dennis Olsen, who joins from the Porsche Motorsport Junior Programme after winning the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and taken runner-up honours in the Supercup last year. They will share the #88 brand new Porsche 911 RSR.

The 2018 ELMS will include six events on some of the greatest tracks in the continent (Paul Ricard, Monza, Red Bull Ring, Silverstone, Spa and Portimão) and will kick off on 14-15 April at Circuit Paul Ricard, in Southern France.

Joel Camathias:

“I am truly delighted to continue at the top level of GT racing, in a series as competitive as the ELMS, and most of all, to continue for a third season with Proton Competition, which is not only a very professional team but also my second family! I am happy to team up again with my friend Christian Ried and we’ll welcome Dennis Olsen, one of the young guns from Porsche’s junior programme, who has already been very successful in Porsche Cups. Together with the new Porsche racer for 2018, we will have a very strong and competitive package and we are determined to do even better than last year. I thank Proton Competition for their trust, and I really aim at something special for what will be my 25th season in motor racing!”
