Bentley Motorsport’s North American customer team K-PAX Racing scored a double win at the Canadian Tire Park in Ontario to continue its podium run and take its tally of silverware in its debut season with the British brand to 10.
Round five of the Pirelli World Challenge Sprint GT series was the headline event at the Victoria Day SpeedFest, and was dominated by K-PAX Racing’s two Bentley Continental GT3s. In the event finale, Álvaro Parente (PO) and Rodrigo Baptista (BR) were uncontested for the top honours of their classes in the 50-minute race.
Both Parente and Baptista earned their first wins of the season under the series’ Sprint GT format. Parente, who led the entire duration of the race, set the fastest lap with a 1:16.841. Baptista also set the fastest lap among GTA drivers with a 1:17.134.
K-PAX Racing has been praised for its handling in the run up to the event after an incident at Virginia International Raceway left them without a chassis just three weeks ahead of the Canadian round. Bentley Motorsport sourced a Continental GT3 in Malaysia and arranged transportation to the team, which turned it around and delivered it to the track in impeccable condition.
Bentley’s Director of Motorsport Brian Gush commented: “K-PAX Racing have impressed us hugely this year and they are fully deserving of this double-win. They have had some difficulties thrown at them following some on-track incidents but they worked hard and in full co-operation with us, and together we have ensured their programme continues – to then carry on to take two race wins is the perfect story. Let’s hope they continue to have incident-free weekends going forward so they can keep getting top-level results.”
K-PAX Racing will look to build on its momentum on May 25-26, 28 at Lime Rock Park during rounds five and six of Pirelli World Challenge SprintX where Bentley works drivers Andy Soucek (ES) and Max Soulet (BE) will join them.
