Kim-Luis Schramm has become the next in a long line of promising young drivers to have raced for Phoenix Racing. Following Schramm’s switch to GT racing in 2018, the 21-year-old will race in the Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe and in the Endurance Cup in 2019. The Youngster will also strengthen the Meuspath-based team at the 24 Hours Nürburgring and participate in selected VLN races.
“I competed in a couple of endurance races at the Nordschleife and in the Blancpain Endurance Series in an Audi R8 LMS GT3 last year,” he explains. “I am delighted to be taking on a new challenge in the form of the Blancpain GT Series with Phoenix Racing.”
Besides his experience in endurance racing, the former ADAC Formula 4 driver also knows how to perform in sprint races. Last year Schramm attracted some considerable attention in a Zakspeed Mercedes AMG GT3 in the ADAC GT Masters.
“Kim-Luis joins Finlay Hutchison as yet another young Phoenix Racing driver who has already shown what he is capable of,” explained Team Principal Ernst Moser. “We are delighted to have him on board and can’t wait to get on track in the new season.”
The Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe marks its inaugural season in 2019 and follows in the footsteps of the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup. As with the ADAC GT Masters, each race weekend will consist of two one-hour races involving a mandatory pit-stop and driver change. In the Endurance Cup calendar five race weekends are scheduled, including one of the highlights of the season – the 24 Hours of Spa.
