Krypton Motorsport: the 2019 season countdown has started

The countdown has begun already for Krypton Motorsport, Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Customer Racing team: they are ready to launch their black & green Mercedes-AMG GT3, and their drivers Marco Zanuttini and Stefano Pezzucchi, into the prestigious Michelin Le Mans Cup 2019 arena.

After coming to the end of a long path started last year when they raced in the Red Bull Ring competition in July and after a few days spent testing the car (the last two on the Castellet track, where the first race will take place) in recent months, Krypton Motorsport has now formalized their participation in the Michelin Le Mans Cup 2019, which lifts the Team into a more European dimension and grants them the opportunity to look much further should they grab victory.

Every year the Michelin Le Mans Cup, which is run as part of the European Le Mans Series, offers its participants the chance to take part in the exciting “Road to le Mans” race that takes place in the same week as the legendary 24 Hours and on the same Circuit de la Sarthe but above all it secures winners of the championship of the GT3 and LMP3 classes a place on the starting grid of the highly coveted 24 Hours of Le Mans, a dream come true for any team and driver.

With so much at stake it is no surprise the 2019 edition sets a record for number of teams and drivers. And the technical and quality level of the teams and drivers has never been higher, with five car manufacturers involved: Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes and Porsche for a total of ten GT3 cars constantly on the starting grid, and others that may join in at any time. The Championship grid will see 22 LMP3 cars for a total of 32 cars on the starting grid.

Europe is calling… at long last Krypton’s women and men will be able to tread the boards of such a coveted stage and show off their skills in a series of monthly races, from April till October, on the most prestigious European tracks: Le Castellet, Monza, Le Mans, Barcelona, Spa Francorchamps and Portimao.

Stefano Pezzucchi “I am very happy with the 2019 program of our Team. I have been personally following with great interest the Michelin Le Mans Cup for a long time now. I find it is an important championship from both a technical and organisational point of view. As we know, this year the number of competitors is far higher than in the past and there are many competitive teams involved. Of course, they all want to win. As usual, we will do our very best and we hope to achieve excellent results during this very exciting season. I would like to thank our sponsors and all the people that made it possible for our Team to be part of this great championship”

Marco Zanuttini “Last year I embarked on a new sport adventure with Team Krypton, switching from Ferrari, the cars I had been driving since the beginning of my career, to the Mercedes-AMG GT3 cars, and it was a great satisfaction. I am really happy to start this new season in a championship that promises to be very exciting indeed and that will no doubt be very challenging too, considering the high level of competitors. We are ready to do our very best”
