Nova Race 2019 motorsport season to be fully focused on the up-and-coming GT4 class

Motorsport-wise 2018 was a multifaceted year for Nova Race: the Italian outfit took part to its domestic GT series as well as to the most appealing rounds of Michelin Le Mans Cup and Creventic 24h Series, jockeying amid categories as different a LMP3, GT3 and GT4. As 2019 looms, the team will go back to its origins, focusing mainly on GT4 and its fleet of G55 Ginettas, albeit the Audi R8 LMS Ultra and the LMP3 may again appear in hand-picked meetings. Once the main race programme choice was made, the team executives started to feel the relentless ‘gravity pull’ of the best GT4 showcases: the European championship and France’s FFSA GT, both run by Stefan Ratel’s SRO organization.

Luca Magnoni, the Varese, Italy-based entrepreneur who owns the team, will certainly be involved as a driver in either series. For him as well as for the team it is not going to be a drag that 2019 will encompass a mere two home races–scheduled at Monza and Misano Adriatico: Nova Race has already made its mark at a number of continental venues, moreover across his long career sporting director Giorgio Piccolo has most likely run more campaigns abroad than on home soil.

As yet, team manager Nicola Sinigaglia is not able to confirm where Magnoni will drive, neither who is him supposed to drive along, as well as the number of cars that will be deployed: “We are well on our way to confirm within weeks the ProAm lineups of the European and French series. We would like to have two in each championship. However, we are aware that SRO has created very competitive GT4 series and therefore we figure out that as team in its first French season and one returning to the European GT4 after several years away it will not be easy for us to field two ProAm pairs in each championship first race. We are therefore also open to the possibility of Am pairs for two or more cars. The schedules of the two championships have been cleverly laid out, regardless, we are definitley able to cope with unknown unknowns, as our team owns four chassis and loads of Ginetta spare parts, which make us feel comfortable for the forthcoming season”.
