Professional racing driver Ollie Hancock will make his Gulf debut at the Yas Marina Circuit next weekend in the Dragon Racing Ferrari 458 GT3. 30-year-old Hancock will race with gentlemen drivers John Hartshorne, and the 2017 Blancpain GT Series Am Champion, David Perel.
Hancock has been absent from GT3 racing since 2015 and is thoroughly looking forward to getting stuck into the endurance event. “I joined Dragon Racing last month, it’s a fantastic outfit and I’m delighted to be driving with them! I just need to find my feet back in GT3, because it’s where I want to be” he commented. “Racing into the night will be incredible. I’m super excited to be racing at Yas Marina Circuit and it’ll be interesting to see the speed differential between the GTs and the LMP3s!”
Am driver John Hartshorne has also had a short break from modern racing. With Hancock alongside him as his Pro and driver coach, the pairing have commenced a coaching programme, which will aim towards GT3/GTE endurance racing.
Under Ollie’s tutelage, Hartshorne has successfully completed some pre-event prep, both on track and in a simulator. “John has made huge, consistent improvement,” Hancock said. “This will be his first ‘real race’ back and even though the main thing is for him to be happy with his performance, we would love to be on the podium. That is our aim!”
