Having claimed the title honours last year in the Pro-Am class, Oman Racing Team with TF Sport are delighted to confirm that it will once again compete in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup. The British-based team will field the Aston Martin V12 GT3 in the all-new Silver Cup class with Ahmad Al Harthy returning to defend his championship. Al Harthy will be joined by Charlie Eastwood and Euan McKay, both of whom are well known to the squad.
McKay recently competed alongside Al Harthy in the Gulf 12 Hours in Abu Dhabi where they raced at the front of the field before finishing second in class. Eastwood meanwhile has been confirmed in the team’s FIA World Endurance Championship challenge alongside Salih Yoluc and Euan Hankey and completes the exciting new look for the Endurance Cup challenge.
Ahmad Al Harthy
“I’m really excited to see how we can move forward in 2018 after an amazing season in the Blancpain Endurance Cup last year. It was important for me to build on the success of last year and to remain in the series and as a Silver driver this year, it’s a small but exciting step forward with Oman Racing TF Sport once again.”
Charlie Eastwood
“I’ve got a busy season ahead which is fantastic! I’m new to endurance racing so I need as much mileage as possible and I’ll certainly be getting that this year with TF Sport. We have a great all-Silver line-up and I’m looking forward to driving the GT3 – which we know is almost bullet proof – and then switching over to the GTE for WEC.
“For me as a professional driver, I think it’s important to be able to switch cars and adapt quickly, so I’m very exciting to being doing this second programme with such a top-notch team in TF Sport.”
Euan McKay
“I’m absolutely thrilled to join TF Sport in Blancpain for the upcoming season. When I did Abu Dhabi with them, I gelled with the team and car really well, so it was a no-brainier when I knew the option to do the season was there.
“I think we’ve got a really strong line-up and I’ve already worked before with Ahmad and Charlie. Ahmad and I worked well together in Abu Dhabi and Charlie and I were team-mates in Carrera Cup GB last year so we already know each other well. I think it’s a good position to start from. And TF Sport itself has had a lot of success in a short space of time, so I can’t wait to get started and see what we can all do!”
Tom Ferrier, TF Sport Director
“We’re looking forward to the challenge again. It’s a step up for Ahmad now as a Silver driver and it will be good to see him race with two of our rising stars in Charlie and Euan. Consistency is always key and we want to make sure we finish each race and make sure that we’re in the position to challenge for the Silver Cup.”
