On Tuesday, the 1973 Ligier JS 2 from the Onroak Automotive workshops set off to tackle the French roads in the Tour Auto Optic 2ooo. While awaiting its return Onroak Automotive is hard at work preparing and restoring other cars for the next round of the Masters Endurance Legends, one of the curtain-raisers to the French Formula 1 Grand Prix in June at Paul Ricard, and Le Mans Classic in July.
Onroak Automotive designs and produces a wide range of racing cars for different series and categories. In parallel to these activities at the cutting edge of modern technologies, the French constructor provides restoration services to bring back to life cars that have marked the history of motor sport.
This week, a 1973 Ligier JS 2 restored by Onroak Automotive and driven by Guy Lacroix and Gérard Bertinetti is roaring along French roads in the Tour Auto Optic 2ooo. The event comprises five legs and a total distance of 2150 km between Paris and Nice.
In the meantime, a team is hard at work in the constructor’s Le Mans workshops putting the finishing touches to the #24 Morgan LM P2, which finished second in its category in the 2013 Le Mans 24 Hours and the FIA WEC. In a few weeks, it will find a new lease of life as it will race in the third round of the Masters Endurance Legends, a curtain-raiser to the French Formula 1 Grand Prix on the Paul Ricard circuit.
In addition, Onroak Automotive is preparing four very different cars for the iconic Le Mans Classic event taking place on the eponymous circuit between 6-8 July.
A 1964 Lotus Elan,
The Duckhams Le Mans 72,
The 2007 Pescarolo LM P1 which finished third in the 2007 Le Mans 24 Hours behind Audi and Peugeot,
The 2013 Morgan LM P2 whose livery reproduces the design of the famous Art Car celebrating the 90th Anniversary of the Le Mans 24 Hours.
The Lotus Elan and the Duckhams will race in grids 4 and 5 respectively.
The Pescarolo LM P1 driven by Jacques Nicolet and the 2013 Morgan LM P2 in the hands of Jean-Marc Merlin will take part in the on-track demonstrations organised by Global Endurance Legends, which regroups prototypes and GTs that raced in the most famous endurance events between 1990 and 2000.
It is the first time that this club will join the historic grids taking part in Le Mans Classic. Two 30-minute sessions are scheduled during the weekend.
