Pasin Lathouras is pleased to announce that he will back on track to represent Thailand during the inaugural edition of the “FIA GT Nations Cup” which takes place in Bahrain this weekend (30 Nov – 1 Dec).
Thailand will be one of 17 countries to be represented and Pasin will drive alongside recognised Thai racer Piti Bhirombhakdi in the #39 Ferrari 488 GT3 which will run by Kessel Racing TP12.
The FIA GT Nations Cup is an exciting new addition to the international motorsport calendar. It’s sanctioned by the FIA and organised by SRO and the Bahrain Motorsport Federation as the headliner of this weekend’s “Bahrain GT Festival”.
The ground breaking “Nations Cup” will pitch teams representing 17 different countries – including Germany, France, UK, Italy, Japan, Argentina, Russia, China and Australia – against each other in an excitement-building format that will see two practice sessions and two qualification sessions before two qualification races that build up to a grand final race to decide the winners. All three races will be 60 minutes long.
Fighting not just for victory but national pride, the format is exclusively reserved for GT3 cars that are shared by a combination of two drivers of Bronze and Silver level. That means Pasin and Piti will have an ideal mix to be competitive. Each country is allowed just a 1 car entry so the hopes of Thailand against the world will rest firmly on the shoulders of these two combative drivers.
For Pasin this will be his first race of the year as business commitments have precluded the 24-year-old from undertaking a full racing programme during 2018 while it will also be his first time competing at the famous 5.412 km/15 turn Bahrain International Circuit in Sahkir.
However, Pasin is sharp, fit and very eager to get back into the cockpit and certainly knows the potent Ferrari 488 GT3 inside out having raced the Italian GT3 car for two seasons in the Blancpain GT Endurance Series (in 2016 and 2017).
Pasin Lathouras: “I’m really pleased and honoured to be able to represent Thailand this weekend in the Nations Cup, it looks to be an exciting new end of year event and with the backing of the FIA and being organised by SRO we can be sure it’s going to raise the bar. It’s great to be back in the cockpit again, I’ve certainly missed racing this year and I’m itching to drive but other commitments meant that I just wasn’t able to work a full programme together for this year. It’s exciting to race with Piti, he’s really upped his game driving in Europe for the last two seasons and picking up a lot of wins and podiums so I think we should make a strong combination that’s ready to go. I would also like to thank Piti for his part in this all coming together and I look forward to sharing the cockpit with him for the first time – hopefully we can spring a very good result.”
