The second race of the Pirelli World Challenge SprintX Championship at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) was cancelled this afternoon.

The weather at CTMP took a turn for the worse as the cars were lined-up on the false grid ready to take to the track for the second race of the weekend. Jordan Taylor (Apopka, Fla.) was belted in the No. 8 Cadillac ATS-V.R Coupe and his brother Ricky Taylor (Lake Mary, Fla.) was in the No. 3 Cadillac ATS-V.R Coupe ready for 60-minutes of racing. Heavy rain made it too treacherous to race. Cadillac V-Performance Racing is packing and heading to Lime Rock Park for next weekend’s round four and five of the SprintX Championship.

“It was the right call” said Johnny O’Connell (Flowery Branch, Ga.), “The rain was just too heavy to make it a safe and competitive race. It is too bad, I really love this track and leaving a race on the table at one of my favorite circuits is tough.”

“Disappointing not to get to race today,” Ricky Taylor said. “We were looking forward to moving up in wet conditions. But, it is nice that we get to move on to Lime Rock next weekend and get back to racing in just five days.”

“We will take our win from yesterday and go onto Lime Rock,” Michael Cooper (Syosset, N.Y) said. “It is just coming down too hard to race. We are going to Lime Rock with a good points position and on a roll from our win yesterday.”

“Well its unfortunate that they had to cancel the race,” said Jordan Taylor. “I think everyone was looking forward to having a race in different conditions, but it was just too much rain to have a safe event. On the bright side, we can leave here with a great points lead heading to Lime Rock next weekend.”

The TV broadcast of the Pirelli World Challenge Series race from Canadian Tire Motorsport Park will run on the CBS Sports Network, May 28 at 6:30 p.m. The series will travel to Lime Rock Park in Connecticut for rounds four and five of the SprintX Championship next weekend, May 26-27.
