RJN partners with Jenson Button to field Honda NSX GT3 Evo in 2019

RJN Motorsport will partner with 2009 Formula 1 world champion Jenson Button to field a Honda NSX GT3 Evo in this season’s Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup.

Jenson Team Rocket RJN will compete for Silver Cup honours this term, fielding a trio of to-be-announced drivers in the five-round championship. A second entry is possible at the marquee Total 24 Hours of Spa.

The new partnership sees Bob Neville’s vastly experienced squad shifting from Nissan machinery to fellow Japanese brand Honda, for which Button is a brand ambassador. An ever-present member of the Endurance grid, RJN captured the drivers’ title in 2015.

The Rocket name links the squad to Jenson’s late father, John, whose Rocket Motorsport karting outfit won multiple British titles. As part of the new agreement, reigning Endurance Cup Pro-Am champion Chris Buncombe will take on a commercial role with the programme.

“As a Honda ambassador, I’m pleased to be a part of something that brings the Honda NSX to the Blancpain GT Series and I’m looking forward to seeing this project evolve,” Button said of the deal.

Team boss Neville added: “I’m delighted and privileged to be in partnership with Jenson to race the superb NSX GT3 Evo. The team are preparing for the challenge of running what is a new car to us in the most competitive endurance championship in the world.”
