ROWE RACING to run two BMW M6 GT3s in the Blancpain GT Series

ROWE RACING will once again compete in the Blancpain GT Series in 2018. The St. Ingbert team will again compete with two BMW M6 GT3s in the Endurance Cup within the top European series for GT cars. The highlight of the season is the 70th staging of the iconic 24 Hours of Spa, which the team won in 2016.

ROWE RACING can rely on driver’s side on reinforcements in cockpit from BMW Motorsport for the five endurance races, all of which take place at iconic and current Formula 1 circuits. Which drivers will drive will be decided later.

German Jens Klingmann and BMW Motorsport Junior Ricky Collard from Britain have spent the last two days taking part in the official tests at Circuit Paul Ricard. The racetrack in Le Castellet, in the south of France, will host round three of the season on 2nd June. The race on 22nd April at the Italian high-speed track in Monza’s Royal Park forms the opening round of the season, before the series moves on to Silverstone (England) on Whit Sunday (20th May). The 24 Hours of Spa will take place on 28th and 29th July, before the 2018 Endurance Cup draws to a close in Barcelona on 30th September.

Hans-Peter Naundorf, team principal of ROWE RACING: “We are very much looking forward to racing in the Blancpain GT Series again in 2018. The decision to commit to the series this year was made relatively late. As such, we are still in the midst of preparations. We have had to forego any outings in the Sprint Cup this year as there were too many clashes with our schedule on the Nordschleife in the run-up to the 24h race. We don’t expect to struggle as much in this year’s Blancpain GT Series as we did in 2017, when turbo cars like our BMW M6 GT3 were often classified unfavourably in the Balance of Performance. Since last season, there have been constructive discussions with those responsible at SRO. The positive signals from SRO encouraged us to compete in this series again this year.”
