RS Racing with Di Amato and Montermini

A stellar new entry strengthens the Ferrari camp for the 2018 season. RS Racing makes its debut in the GT Open with its Ferrari 488 entrusted to Daniele Di Amato and Andrea Montermini. The team has confirmed its line-up today after presenting a few days ago its orange-livered car, in the colours of the main sponsor +Energia, in an emblematic location such as the yard in front of the Commendatore’s house at Ferrari’s private track in Fiorano. Created in 2017 and based in Perugia, RS Racing is led by Renato Di Amato and will be making its debut in GT3 racing, with a brand new 488 that has extensively tested at Fiorano, Mugello and Paul Ricard in recent weeks.

The team’s established driver is Daniele Di Amato, 27, from Rome, who has a very successful career in Porsche and Ferrari mono-brand trophies, having conquered the Ferrari Challenge Europe titles in 2014 and 2017. Except for a season in Italian GT in 2015 with a F458”, he commented, “my racing career has developed exclusively within mono-brand trophies. So, I will have to cope with a lot of variables new to me, like race strategy and pit stop, on top of racing with a new car and a new team. It’s an exciting challenge, I hope to do well and rely a lot on Andrea’s experience and advice.”

Andrea Montermini certainly needs no presentation. At 53, the boy from Sassuolo is back to the GT Open, a series where he is the most successful driver ever, with two titles (2008-13) and 19 race wins. “It’s been a last-minute call”, explains the former F.1 driver, “but I am really delighted to go back to real racing after more than a year of inactivity. I know Daniele well for having worked with him in the past, he’s a fast and talented driver, and I am sure he’ll do well. RS Racing is a new and small team, but I am very confident in their potential, as they have professionalism and a lot of determination. And, yes, I am so happy to go back to the GT Open, a series that I love and means so much to me!”
