Competing for the first time at the famed island street circuit, Scuderia Corsa and the No. 63 Ferrari 488 GT3 are proud to announce their entry in the upcoming Macau GT World Cup. Campaigning the same machine that has won the last two IMSA championships, team newcomer Felix Rosenqvist will take the wheel.
A one-of-a-kind event, the annual meeting at Macau is part of a circuit race formed entirely out of the city’s streets. With walls on all sides and narrow turns, the unique challenge of the Chinese province is unlike any other, making it one of the crown jewels of GT style competition.
Heading in to the 64th running of the event, the legend of Scuderia Corsa’s No. 63 hopes to expand, with both team and driver looking to earn the first ever victory for Ferrari at the event, aiming to close Ferrari’s 70th anniversary on an ultimate high. The team’s participation will also cement their experience as a truly international team, adding Macau to an impressive roster of events that have included the 24 Hours of Le Mans, 24 Hours of Daytona, the IMSA Championship and the Pirelli World Challenge.
For Felix Rosenqvist, who has dominated in Macau winning twice in another series, the opportunity to take part in one of GT racing’s biggest events is an exciting one.
“Competing at Macau is something very special,” stated Rosenqvist. “It’s one of my absolute favorite events in the world and I’ve always had great experiences at the circuit in the past. To take part in the GT race is something that will be extremely challenging. Scuderia Corsa has an incredible reputation for preparing some of the best Ferraris in the GT world, and I appreciate the opportunity from everyone.”
For team owner, Giacomo Mattioli, the significance of another major international race cannot be understated.
“Competing in Macau for the win is an incredible opportunity to honor the Ferrari brand, topping this exceptional 70th year for the company” stated Mattioli. “Felix’s record speaks for itself, quite remarkable in Macau, and between his driving and the depth of our team, we’re confident in our ability to deliver.”
Official practice for the Macau Grand Prix will take place on Thursday, November 16, with race action on Sunday, November 19. Continuous updates and coverage details will be provided as the event draws closer.
