The returning team Rosberg will be taking part in the season opener of the ADAC GT Masters this coming weekend. For the start of the season, the team from the Palatinate is playing it cool. Their goal is to position themselves and find out where they stand in the top-class field.
They have long awaited the starting shot for the 2018 motorsports season. All points are at zero and the battle for the championship cup in the “league of super sports cars” is about to begin anew. Team Rosberg has already completed its initial training and also mastered the dress rehearsal during the official GT Masters trial days two weeks ago. Now the time has come to prove themselves in the race.
“Back to the roots”, team leader Arno Zensen says with anticipation. “It will not be easy. The competition is very strong. But we will give our best and get the most out of it.”
Motivation as the driving force: Rosberg drivers eagerly await the start of the season
The youngest Rosberg driver probably has the most experience on the racecourse with a length of about 3.696 kilometres. “I am very much looking forward to the upcoming races. I am already familiar with Oschersleben from my previous season. Only the first curve has changed,” Jonathan Judek (18, Germany) says with confidence. “I am hoping for a good start to the season.” Teammate Jimmy Eriksson (26, Sweden) is also anticipating the first race with optimism: “I am very excited! As newcomers, keeping pace with the others is a real challenge. We are well prepared and ready to battle for a good placement.”
The pair of drivers for the Rosberg Lamborghini with the starting number 53 can hardly await the season opener either. “The winter is always far too long. Finally the racing season is starting again,” says Michele Beretta (23, Italy). “Right now the overall situation is still very difficult to assess. But we have worked hard to make the best of our début.”
Teammate Aaro Vainio (24, Finland) agrees: “I am really looking forward to the first racing weekend! Oschersleben is a demanding course. Good preparation notwithstanding, defining a clear goal is difficult. First we have to see where we stand. But one thing is for sure: we are ready!”
Team leader Arno Zensen: “Wait and see”
Rosberg team leader Arno Zensen is down to earth as the season opener with the two brand new race cars approaches: “We just have to wait and see. Making a prediction before the race is difficult. We are going to run the races, see what happens and where we end up. I am very confident and looking forward to this new challenge.”
The two races will be broadcast this coming Saturday and Sunday by the German television station Sport 1 starting at 1:00 pm.
