After a successful start for Šenkýř Motorsport team at the Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, the Czech team now heads to Barcelona for the final round of GT Open championship. This time with a different line-up.
Robert Šenkýř’s team had one of the best races in its history at the Spa-Francorchamps in June. Richard Gonda and Joel Eriksson managed to finish 4th and 2nd in a very competitive field of almost 30 cars in the GT3 category.
Richard Gonda stays with the team for the seventh round of the GT Open season, but he will be joined by a Danish driver Mikkel Jensen. A 23-year-old Jensen is a BMW Motorsport factory driver and a member of its junior academy. Mikkel brings experience as he has raced in the ADAC GT Masters series this year with BMW Team Schnitzer and he knows BMW M6 GT3 car very well.
Robert Šenkýř, Team principal said: “We knew already before Spa, that we want to do at least one more race in this prestigious series. Our negotiations with BMW and our partners went well and today I can confirm, that we are going to race in the final round of this year’s GT Open championship in Barcelona. Richard Gonda will be joined by Mikkel Jensen, who is young and very fast. He also knows the car very well, so we believe that we can make another step forward as a team. It is difficult to predict how it might go for us, especially in such a competitive series, but I know for sure that we as a team will give it everything and we will fight for the best result.”
