Speedworks building on initial success with triple-programme for 2018

The busy winter for LMP3 Cup teams continues as race-winning outfit Speedworks Motorsport gets set to compete in the 3x3H Dubai endurance event on 5-7 January 2018 with its Ligier JS P3. Race-winner Jack Butel will undertake driving duties during race , with other seats still available.

Speedworks is aiming to return to the LMP3 Cup in 2018, and will expand operations to race in the Michelin Le Mans Cup as well as selected endurance races.

The team enjoyed competing in the first year of the LMP3 Cup, with Butel finishing third at Spa and second at Snetterton, with Scott Mansell and Devon Modell respectively, before his brilliant solo success in the rain at Donington Park.

In addition, the outfit has two exclusive test days planned in Portimao to evaluate drivers for its 2018 plans, with track time booked on 10th – 13th February and 2nd – 7th March. Its Pro-Sim race simulator can be configured for the Ligier JS P3, and sessions will be run for drivers at its Cheshire base for familiarisation ahead of the tests.

“2017 was our first season with this type of car and I think that the progression we made in terms of performance throughout the season was clear to see, culminating in Jack’s win at Donington Park for the finale,” said Team Principal Christian Dick.

“The Dubai 3x3H races give us an excellent chance to continue that progression. When you consider the pre-season testing programme we have lined up in Portimao in February and March, we will be in great shape for the 2018 season in both LMP3 Cup and Michelin Le Mans Cup.”
