Tickets for the 70th edition of the Total 24 Hours of Spa, the most important GT race in the world and the highlight of both the Blancpain GT Series and Intercontinental GT Challenge, will go on sale today.
When, back in 1924, the management of the Royal Automobile Club of Belgium created a 24-hour race to give Belgian car manufacturers the opportunity to face the competition from abroad, little did they know that the so-called ‘Grand Prix d’Endurance’ would evolve into the modern Total 24 Hours of Spa, during which a dozen prestigious car manufacturers will take each other on, in order to conquer one of the most coveted trophies in motorsports.
2018 will see the 70th edition of this unique endurance classic, an event that will be held from Tuesday July 24th till Sunday July 29th 2018. The start of the race will be given on Saturday July 28th, at 4.30 pm.
Since the Total 24 Hours of Spa is the blue riband event of both the Blancpain GT Series and the Intercontinental GT Challenge, expect to see the best GT teams and drivers from around the world compete on the 7 km long Francorchamps roller coaster in the Belgian Ardennes. The 2017 race proved to be truly historic – for the first time ever, six cars finished on the lead lap after 24 hours of hard racing – and we have every reason to expect that next year’s race will be of the same high level!
Action during the 2018 edition of the Total 24 Hours of Spa race week starts on Tuesday July 24th, with the three-hour Bronze test. After the immensely popular parade to the city centre of Spa on Wednesday, things will get serious on Thursday, with the free practice and qualifying sessions. The fastest twenty drivers will set the front rows of the starting grid during Friday’s Superpole, while the epic race will start on Saturday afternoon 16:30.
In between these sessions there will be plenty of other racing going on, with an extensive support programme, to be announced shortly, on what is often called the most beautiful circuit in the world.
There will be plenty to do and see off track as well. The traditional Total 24 Hours of Spa Village will be back in full swing, with entertainment for young and old, including the increasingly popular concert on Saturday evening.
Race tickets (valid for Saturday and Sunday) are available from 35 euros onwards and also include free entry on Thursday and Friday. This ticket is all you need to get into the Total 24 Hours of Spa Village as well, which includes the Saturday evening concert too! Other ticket formulae are available, from single day entries for Thursday, Friday and Sunday (starting at 25 euros) to VIP arrangements for the whole weekend.
