Title showdown in the GT4 Central European Cup at Zandvoort

Zandvoort in the Netherlands is to play host to the final race weekend of the 2018 GT4 Central European Cup season from 5 to 7 October. With the championship still up for grabs following the penultimate round of the season at the Slovakiaring, the title battle will be decided at the undulating circuit on the Dutch North Sea coast.

The drivers and teams in the GT4 Central European Cup will return to the track for the first time in six weeks. Fifteen cars and a total of seven different GT4 models will be competing for honours around the 4.320 km circuit – tension and excitement are a guarantee.

Marilyn Niederhauser leading the championship into Zanvoort weekend

Marilyn Niederhauser currently leads the drivers’ championship with 124 points, but her advantage over the remainder of the competition could barely be thinner. Just two points behind Niederhauser, her teammates Benjamin Mazatis and Ilmari Korpivaara are in an excellent position to attack. The junior drivers will be making every effort to build on their double-podium success at the Slovakiaring. Fellow KTM driver David Klar and Porsche driver Rob Severs, both of whom have 112 points and are tied in the championship for third, also have a serious chance of winning the Pro-AM Cup.

Five-way battle in the Am Cup

Consistency has been the key for Giuseppe Fascicolo and Romy Dall`Antonia so far this year, with the pair of Maserati drivers able to score points in every race so far this season. They lead the Am Cup by twelve points ahead of the Bulgarian driver Ivan Vlachkov. Fellow Maserati driver Maciej Marcinkiewicz and Austrian Freddy Fast are also within touching distance and could add extra excitement to the title fight if given the chance.

New participants in the starting field

After the successful guest start of Adam Galas at the Slovakiaring, he and his team Salag Racing will also participate in the season finale of the GT4 Central European Cup. In addition to the Polish team, the team of SRT Selleslagh will be represented in Zandvoort with two Mercedes AMG GT4s. In addition, the Dutch-based teams Equipe Verschuur (McLaren 570s GT4) and Ekris Racing (Ekris M4 GT4) join the race on their home track. The team of Ekris Racing is not unknown in the GT4 scene – they won the GT4 European Series last year.
