After a restful festive period, Tom Onslow-Cole is ready to take on the 2018 racing season and is starting with some unfinished business in the Middle East, where he and RAM Racing will contest the Dubai 24 Hours in the Mercedes AMG GT3.
OC and RAM Racing are no strangers to Dubai 24 Hours and have finished as high as second place overall in the 24H Series season-opener, but OC says that he won’t settle until he adds the first place trophy to his other 24-hour race wins.
“Second place means the team has done a fantastic job but, in all honesty, it’s probably my least favourite postion,” he explained. “Not only because it means you came so close but because you’ll never be happy with any position other than first in the future!”
OC and RAM Racing have competed together at Dubai 24 Hours several times and they are welcoming Remon Vos (NL) to make his debut at the event and Euan Hankey (GB), who has contested the twice-around-the-clock race before but joins the Silverstone Park-based team for the first time.
“We’ll do the race with just the three of us,” commented OC. “With the maximum two-hour stint time in place, this will make the event pretty intense with little down-time between stints, but all three of us love a challenge.”
“The Mercedes AMG is the perfect car for a race like Dubai 24 Hours; it’s extremely reliable, has the pace to qualify well and is ideal for pro-am racing thanks to it’s usabilty.”
