Miguel Toril fights for the podium in the 24 hours of Dubai with a Porsche 911 Cup and finishes after some setbacks in 5th position.
The usual winter break has been positively disrupted this year with the 24h Dubai race participation, the most important endurance race in the Middle East. The Black Falcon team has lined up, among other vehicles, a Porsche 911 Cup to compete in the 991 category counting for this task with the Saudi Bandar Alesayi, the Germans Sören Spreng and Burkard Kaiser and the Spanish-German Miguel Toril on board.
After qualifying in 3rd place in the category, the first few hours of racing evolved favorably for team #69, which alternates between the 2nd and 3rd position, depending on the strategy. Unfortunately, during the first night hours, the mechanics of the Porsche had an issue than forced the team to proceed with a repair that costed more than 6 laps.
The race continued without incident until almost the end with the team fighting to recover the lost time for more than 16 hours of racing. A new issue just 2 hours before the end limited the few possibilities left and Miguel would cross the finish line on 5th place in the category.
Miguel Toril: “A great team effort that has not been rewarded. Black Falcon has done an excellent job, we -the drivers- have driven without making a single mistake in the whole race and personally, I am very happy with my performance on track. I am very grateful for the opportunity I received to be in Dubai. My brother Alex has done a great job with his team winning the category and that is also for me a great reason to be happy. Thank you very much again to everyone involved and see you back on track soon”.
